Getting it on with Jyotisha

Let’s be real, sex sells. Everywhere. Even in Jyotish. Relationships is one of the most sought after area of counsel in Jyotish and even though most querents are coy to admit, quite a few relationship issues have their saps germinating from the couple’s sex lives. After all it is the Kaliyuga or should I say the times of Tinder.

Bhavas (houses) of Sex

3rd, 7th, 8th and 12th are the “bhavas/houses of sex”.

3rd House. The Lucifer house, as I like to think. Lucifer being the celestial angel that can stare into the eyes of mere mortals and mesmerize them into truthfully answering, “What is it that you really desire?”. The 3rd is after all the house of desires of every flavor. However, if each of the houses had a theme song, “Sex, drugs and Rock-n-roll” would probably be the theme song for the 3rd. Mithuna (sexual union) is the sign that rules the 3rd house of the Kalapurusha and Mars is the Karaka. Do we have enough to make the 3rd the Bhava representing sexual desires as one of its many Karakatvas?

7th House. The 7th represents our karma with regards to all kinds of relationships as well as the quality and outcome and much definitely includes physical ones.

8th House. The 8th house represents our hidden desires (sexual fantasies anyone?), the tooling we need (our sexual organs) as well as our ability to attract and devour potential mates (sex appeal).

12th House. Among other things the 12th house represents “pleasures of bed” of which sleep and sex I would say top the list of most homosapiens. The 12th therefore is the house that has the answer to the million dollar question, “Was it good?” or should I say “Will it be good for me?”.

Good girls and Bad boys

Let’s face it. There are many many mysteries of the testosterone-estrogen divide that mankind or should I be saying womankind haven’t been able to decipher yet. Good girls falling for bad guys is one such classic. Don’t believe me? I just googled “good girls and bad boys song” and got 29 matches. Yes, 29! different ones. Now I can’t wait to go hear them. But before I do, back to our favorite topic, Jyotish.

According to my teacher, Chandra (Moon) and Shukra (Venus) are the good girls of the celestial youth club whereas Shani (Saturn) and Mars (Mangal) are the the baddest of the bad boys. So, any association among these is a definite sign of a very active and very promising sex life. Just to be clear, the association I am referring to is a “good girl-bad boy” one.

Although, in keeping with the times we live in and being mindful of the the “Kaal, Desh, Patra” philosophy of Jyotish it might be worth exploring whether an association within the girls and/or boys would end up being a similar kind of conclusion. Definitely something I will be adding to my “Jyotish research To-Do” list.

Alt.Sex

Sambandha between one or more of the celestial eunuchs namely Mercury, Saturn, Rahu and one ore more of the following, Lagna, Lagnesh, 7th house, 7th lord, Venus could nudge an individual towards homosexuality / bi-sexuality.

Chasitity

A fixed Lagna with the Lagnesh and Moon placed in fixed signs are indicative of a more tranditional / orthodox outlook towards sex and could indicate the native refraining from a sexual ecounter prior to marriage and / or marriage-like relationship. A movable Lagna with Lagnesh and Moon in movable signs indicates the opposite.

Placements in the first half of the dual signs (0° to 15°) should be considered fixed (since these degress are closer to a fixed sign). Similary, placement in the second half of the dual signs (15° to 30°) should be considered movable.

In reality, it is more likely that we might see a mix of of fixed and movable placements in which case the inclination can be determined based on 2 of the 3 indicators being fixed or movable.

The above technique can be applied to both Prashna and Natal charts.
