The Moon in more ways that one is the linchpin of Jyotish. It therefore is a great starting point of any chart analysis be it Natal or Horary.
Waxing and Waning Moon
Definition:
The moon is considered waxing (Shukla Paksha) when it is moving away from the Sun and waning (Krishna Paksha) when it moving towards the Sun. When the Moon is about 90° or ~4 signs (inclusive counting) away from the Sun, it is considered bright, else it is considered dark.
Just as the full moon lights up the pitch dark sky, so does a bright waxing Moon light up a birth chart even if there are other shadows of darkness lurking around in the chart. It generally imbues the native with the will to live life to its fullest. More often than not, such natives are able to see the good in everything and everyone that they cross paths with.
The waning moon inculcates a certain level of spirituality and detachment in the native, either by birth or by way of life experiences, that make them averse to materialism and/or relationships.
As with everything else is Jyotish, the waxing Moon isn’t necessarily good and the waning moon isn’t necessarilty bad. A native with a waxing Moon can be overtly materialistic, sensual and consequently self-centered, whereas, a native with a waning Moon can be kindered and altruistic spirit that is focused on the greater good.
Debilitated Moon
A debilitated and afflicted moon is akin to a mind (manas) drenched in moldy stagnant water (fixed watery Scorpio) and could lead the individual to have an extremely negative, depressive and at times destructive outlook to life.
